Following on from their magnificent ‘Eddie Murphy’, Spang Sisters have returned with ‘The Ballad Of Joyce Vincent’. There are echoes of Syd Barrett lurking in the track: unsuspecting jazzy guitar chords and playful melodies delivering dark lyrics. The track tells the story of the titular Joyce Vincent, a woman who was found dead in London after being dead for three years. “I'd read the story of Joyce Vincent a few years ago and was deeply moved by it,” explains Rashid of Sprang Sisters. “Then, in the spring/summer of 2019, I was bed-bound for around 4 months and enjoying a moreish cocktail of isolation and loneliness.
